Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a respirator fit test valid?
Respirator fit tests must be renewed annually (every year) as required by WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation and CSA Z94.4. Retesting is also required immediately if you change respirator models, gain or lose significant weight, have dental work, or undergo facial surgery.
What is a quantitative fit test?
A quantitative fit test uses a PortaCount machine to measure the actual protection factor of your respirator by comparing particle concentrations inside and outside the mask. It is more accurate than qualitative (smell/taste) tests.
Is respirator fit testing required by WorkSafeBC?
Yes. WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation requires that workers who use tight-fitting respirators be fit tested. The test must be performed by a qualified person using an approved method.
Do you do fit testing at our worksite?
Yes! We bring our PortaCount equipment to your location anywhere in Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Contact us to schedule fit testing for your team.
